The Salvation Army is a Church that strongly believes in putting its beliefs into action, and because of this it has become one of the largest and most diverse voluntary social work agencies in and around the world.
The motto "Heart to God and hand to man" well describes its integrated and holistic ministry.
Today, the Salvation Army operates in more than 127 countries around the world. We have more than 14,000 churches where worship is performed in local languages in the context of local cultures. Social development programmes vary depending on local needs. Social work includes community programmes and programmes in various institutions, health programmes, support for the HIV-positive, emergency assistance, centres for the homeless, clubs, after-school classes and services at home. Our social work is aimed at achieving justice and improving living standards.
